Greenhouse gases

  1. Intensity (CO2e per million metric tons) and Data Coverage
Our company conducts greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory standard. The greenhouse gas emission data covers the Finetek Co., Ltd.-Tucheng Head Office, Tucheng No. 2 Factory, and Yilan Factory.Emission information is as follows:
    Scope 2023 2024
Direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) 73.3622 mt CO²e 65.9942 mt CO²e
Energy indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2) 458.2907 mt CO²e 466.0006 mt CO²e
Indirect greenhouse gas emissions (scope 3 to 6) 1,290.0074 mt CO²e 1392.6901 mt CO²e
Intensity (CO2e per million metric tons) is as follows:

    Scope 2023 2024
    Greenhouse gas emissions  1,821.6603  1,924.6849
    Revenue (NT$ million) 931 894
Intensity (metric tons of CO2e/NT$ million)   1.9576 2.1529

  2. Greenhouse gas verification
In 2023, the greenhouse gas inventory was conducted in accordance with the ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas verification standard by a third-party verification firm, ARS International Verification Co., Ltd. The evidence showed that the company's greenhouse gas claims complied with regulations, did not violate the 5% materiality threshold, and met the requirements for reasonable assurance levels (Categories 1-2) and limited assurance levels (Categories 3-6).
In 2024, the inventory will be conducted internally. As the company is a listed company with capital of less than NT$5 billion, external verification will be completed according to the schedule stipulated by the competent authority.

  3. Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets, Strategies, and Specific Action Plans
Reduction Targets: As emissions are closely related to revenue, the Company's target is to reduce greenhouse gas intensity by 1% annually, resulting in a 10% reduction over 10 years. 2023 was the base year, and emissions increased by 6% compared to 2023, failing to meet the target. This was due to increased complexity in the production process of new products, leading to increased carbon emissions from electricity consumption. The Company will continue to strengthen its promotion of energy conservation and carbon reduction, with the following policies:

  • Mutual Impact of Shared Water Resources: The plant uses tap water exclusively, with no other incoming water sources. In accordance with public water conservation policies, all public faucets are equipped with water-saving and timer devices. Water-saving devices and water-saving toilets have been installed in offices and the plant area to avoid water waste.
  • Management of Wastewater-Related Impacts: In accordance with the Tucheng Industrial Zone planning, this plant is a low-emission factory. Therefore, domestic sewage is connected to the industrial zone's sewage system and flows to the industrial zone's wastewater treatment plant.
  • Power Consumption Management: Establish independent power management devices to monitor high-power-consuming equipment, ensuring it operates within contracted capacity. If equipment is overloaded during peak hours, adjust peak and off-peak work schedules.
  • Set office air conditioning to a constant temperature to reduce power load; encourage employees to turn off air conditioning and lighting when not in use.
  • Implement the policy of turning off lights and computers at the end of the workday to save energy.
  • Reduce carbon emissions through daily energy-saving methods in offices and the factory area; gradually replace light bulbs with energy-saving LED bulbs and use infrared or sound controllers for power-saving switching.
  • Implement electronic signature and electronic document management systems to reduce paper usage and increase the use of recycled paper.
  • Encourage employees to use public transportation and green energy equipment to reduce air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions. Targeted Business Visits: Improve visit efficiency by adopting carpooling systems to reduce vehicle usage and achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction.

Water consumption
  1. Water consumption
The water consumption data covers Finetek Tucheng head factory, Tucheng No. 2 Factory and Yilan Factory. There was no external verification agency for both years, and the data was collected by ourselves. The data for 2023 and 2024 are as follows:

    Item 2023 2024
    Water consumption (degree) 6,017 5,028
    Revenue (NT$ million) 931 894
    Intensity (degrees/ turnover (NT$ millions)) 6,4659 5.6243

  2. Reduction target:
The company's goal is to reduce annual water consumption by 1% and 10% in 10 years. Water consumption decreased by 16% in fiscal year 2024 compared to fiscal year 2023. This was mainly due to the increased water consumption in fiscal year 2023 because the company had new products that required water testing. The company will continue to strengthen its promotion of water conservation efforts, and improvements will be made by reminding employees to conserve water, installing water-saving devices, adding water recycling equipment to equipment, and strengthening the reuse of recycled water

Waste

  1. Total weight of waste
The total weight of waste covers Finetek head Tucheng factory, Tucheng No. 2 Factory and Yilan Factory.
The data for 2023 and 2024 are as follows:

    Item 2023 2024
Total weight of waste (note) 24.6MT 21.12MT
Note: Since our company’s waste is incinerated by a qualified professional waste treatment company and recycled and reused by professional recyclers, it is all harmless waste.

    Reduction target:
The company's goal is to reduce the total weight of waste by 1% and reduce it by 10% in 10 years. The total weight of waste in 2024 decreased by 14% compared with 2023, which is close to the target value of 1%. The main reason is that after the promotion of production in 2023, the packaging materials were concentrated and recycled. The company will continue to improve in the areas of policy advocacy, carton collection, recycling and reuse, and accurate calculation of effective use of materials.

  2. Waste management
Our company mainly focuses on the manufacturing of industrial sensors. All domestic waste from business employees and general waste generated from business activities are incinerated by qualified professional waste treatment companies. The metal processing pieces and scraps produced during the processing and manufacturing process are recycled and reused by professional recyclers. Achieve conservation in the use of natural resources, implement resource recycling and zero waste, minimize waste production and maximize resource recycling, and promote material recycling and resource recycling.

  3. Waste generation and significant waste-related impacts
The Group's manufacturing and welding of electronic components all adopt lead-free processes, and no harmful lead is produced. The factory's manufacturing activities are purely hardware processing and component assembly testing, so no SDS hazardous substances listed in the safety data are produced. The principle of waste management is to recycle and reuse waste if it has recycling value and is priced by environmental protection companies. If it is general garbage generated from worthless business activities, it should be incinerated by a qualified professional waste disposal company
